How to transfer Domain name to save money on renewal

In this article, we have shown a way to save money on renewal, transferring the domain to another registrar. Today we will know in this article how you can transfer your domain name from one domain registrar to another domain registrar. For your convenience, I have given an example step by step of transferring my domain name from BigRock to Hostinger.

In this tutorial, instead of buying a new domain from hostinger Domains, I will transfer one of my already purchased domain name, which is on BigRock,because it has expired.

Let me tell you how you can transfer your exisiting domains from BigRock to Hostinger. If you understand this tutorial well, then you will learn to transfer domains on any other domain registrar as well.

Step by Step Guide to Transfer from BigRock to Hosting

There are two important steps to transfer a domain name from any domain name registrar to another registrar, and they are:

1.Unlock Domain

2.Get the EPP Code

In this guide, I will tell you all the steps which will help you to unlock the domain from BigRock domain manager and get EPP code to transfer the domain.

On the receving side, I have hostinger Domains, but you can also follow these steps for any other domain registrar like Go daddy.

To begin, login to your BigRock pannel, and launch the domain manager from the dashboard.

In the domain manager of BigRock, you have to choose the domain name that you want to transfer to the hosting or any other registrar.

Now you will be on the domain management page of your selected domain. Here, you unlock your domain so that your domain can be transferred to another registrar. For this follow the screenshot given below and simply set the lock status to off.

After unlocking your domain, you have to obtain the domain authorization code to transfer the domain to your other registrar. On the same page,you will find a column named "Domain Secret", you will have to click on it to get the EPP (Authorization Code). This will give you your secret code.

Open your hostinger Domains Dashboard, you will get the option of Domain Transfer.

Click on it and enter the domain name that you want to transfer to it.

Click Continue, and it will ask you to follow the steps one by one.

By default, Hostinger will select its own, Hoster Name Sever, and you should always change it on your exisiting name servers and it will not make any difference on your website. By doing this, your domain will be transferred without any downtime.

Click on Import name servers, and in the next step the hosting will ask you to pay money. When you pay for your domain transfer, your domain will be renewed for one year. Now you have to enter your billing details to complete the transfer. You will receive an email from your existing domain registrar to authenticate the transfer to Hostinger Domains. Your domain transfer process will start It may take about 1 week.
