About Ganesh Chaturthi:

In India Some festivals are reflective of religious identity as well as region-specific culture.every religion People are involved in these festivals. Like the Durga Puja of West Bengal has become prevalent throughout the country today, similarly the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrated with pomp in Maharashtra is also celebrated throughout the country. This festival of Ganesh Chaturthi lasts for about ten days, due to which it is also called Ganeshotsav. In North India, Ganesh Chaturthi is also celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Shri Ganesh.

Why Celebrate Ganesh Utsav

At the beginning of universe, when the question arose as to who should be considered as the first worshiper, then the deity approached Lord Shiva. then it is thought that the one who revolves around the earth and comes first will be considered as the first worshiper In this way all the gods started sitting in their respective vehicles to revolve around the earth.

The mouse is the vehicle of the Lord ganesha and his body is gross, how could Lord Ganesha revolve, then Lord Ganesha with his wisdom and cleverness completed the three revolutions of his father Lord Shiva and mother Parvati and stood with folded hands.

Then Lord Shiva said that there is no one greater and wiser than you in this whole world. By doing three revolutions of mother and father, you have completed the revision of the three locos and you have got its merit which is bigger than the revolutions of the earth.

Therefore, a person who will worship you before starting any work will not have to face any kind of difficulties.

Just then Lord Ganesha became revered and worshiped before all the Gods and Goddesses and then after the worship of Lord Ganesha all other gods are worshiped.

Ganeshotsav is celebrated from when to how long:

Ganesh ji's festival begins with his worship by setting up the Ganapati statue on the Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month and keeping Bappa at home for ten consecutive days and bidding farewell to Bappa on Anant Chaturdashi. On this day, the Ganesh idol is taken for immersion while playing drums and singing and dancing. Ganeshotsav ends with immersion.

Why Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated for 10 days:

Followers of religious texts, when Ved Vyas ji had narrated the story of Mahabharata to Lord Ganesha for ten days, then he closed his eyes and when he opened his eyes after ten days, he found that Lord Ganesha had high temperature.

Then at the same time Ved Vyas ji bath to him in the nearby Kund, which reduced his body temperature, so Ganesh ji is worshiped for the next ten days after the establishment of Ganpati and then the statue of the eleventh Lord Ganesha is immersed.

Ganesh Visarjan is also a symbol of the fact that this body is made of clay and finally it has to be mixed in the soil.

Since when did Ganesh chaturthi be celebrated in public:

Although this festival has been celebrated for many years, but prior to 1893 it was limited to only houses, at that time the mass festival was not celebrated nor was it celebrated in pandals on such a large scale.

In 1893, Bal Ganga Dhar Tilak organized this festival on a scale in order to mobilize against the British, in which people on a large scale participated in a big way and thus Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated throughout the nation.

Balgangadhar Tilak organized this event in Maharashtra, so this festival started to be celebrated all over Maharashtra. Tilak was struggling for Swarajya at that time and wanted a platform through which his voice reached as many people as possible and then he chose the Ganapati festival and gave it a grand look whose image is seen all over Maharashtra till date.
